Moranbah is a purpose built Bowen Basin coal town and the seat of the Isaac Regional Council. Coal mining employs close to 30% of the local workforce, servicing the BMA operations at Goonyella Riverside, Broadmeadow and Peak Downs and Anglo American's Moranbah North and Grosvenor mines, with coal seam gas and a large contractor and labour hire economy on top. That leaves Belyando Avenue and the industrial area full of mining services firms, contractors and trades offices that run on documents and data.
